An incredible programJul 30, 2005

Shurley English is the best program for teaching English. I started with level 2 teaching my second grader this year. The program is detailed, scripted for easy teaching, thorough and challenging. The sentences are not dumbed-down. They are intelligent and make use of the new vocabulary that are introduced in each lesson. The jingles are catchy and memorable. A great choice.

No offense ShurleyJul 11, 2007

"Prayer gives birth to the ridiculous!"
I'm sorry, but I can't recommend this one. Now before I get disagreements sent my way, hear me out. I know of one family who LOVES and swears by this program. It works well for them and the children are very knowledgeable of the english rules after using S.E. I on the other hand, cannot enjoy it, so therefore my kids couldn't either. The little jingles are irritatingly mundane and do not rhyme well. It is so childish that my kids felt ridiculous and had no interest in learning with this program.
Challenging Curriculum, Misleading Description by SellerOct 14, 2011
By sjnp This is a very comprehensive English curriculum. I can't say that I'm loving it so far, but I wouldn't attribute that to any failure with the book, more so that it's just not the best way for me to teach.
My primary objection is to the inaccuracy of the description of the book by the seller. It was listed as a clean copy of the book. That was untrue, as there is writing on almost every page from the previous owner. Had I known, I would not have purchased from this seller.
It may not matter to others, but I dislike having writing in my books.
