5Best of Sesame Street's Alphabet VideosOct 01, 2000
By Sarah L. Rinelli
As a parent, I can say that we own or have seen most of Sesame Street's videos that focus on teaching the alphabet, and this is by far the best one. Elmo, Telly, and Zoe are prominently featured, but the shining stars of this video are the classic alphabet cartoons that have mesmerized my 2 year old!

As a first grade teacher, I have found this to be a great video to send home with students that needs extra alphabet reinforcement (very popular with English Language Learners!).

So, if you are a pre-school parent who is looking to give your little one a head start on the alphabet, search no further. I can not recommend this video more highly to you.

5GREAT learning video!Sep 01, 2005

I love Sesame Street - The Alphabet Jungle Game. I run a home daycare. My kids love this video. I love that they learn all their letters. This video takes all the letters one by one and shows a little clip on the letter. This video is a must have

5A must see for 2 & 3 year olds!Aug 15, 1999

My 2 year old sings the theme song from this movie every day.He loves saying the alphabet and recognizes all of the letters! Ithink this video played a big part in making him excited about learning his letters.

2Was a little disappointed...Mar 30, 2003
By Jill
My 15 month old daughter is a big fan of the Sesame Street (in particular, Elmo) movies, however she was very disinterested with this one. First of all, I was under the impression that this was going to be an Elmo/Zoe filled DVD (considering they are featured on the cover the way they are). However, they barely appeared in this. In addition, there was very little to no fresh material here. It was all old clips from my own youth of watching Sesame Street. Also, very little of it was the Muppet/Sesame Street characters, as most of it was sketch/cartoon sequences.

In defense of this particular DVD, I will say that if it's the alphabet you are interested in, that's really what you're going to get with this. Letters are continuously repeated and used in examples. And in true Sesame Street fashion, there are a few catchy tunes that will have you memorizing in no time. You can't really lose with the lesson here...it's never too early to introduce learning (especially a staple like the alphabet).

For a little one who enjoys bright imagery, fast-paced movies, I would not recommend this movie. For a preschooler who is anxious about learning the alphabet and has a good attention span, this one might work for you.

2It IS a jungle...Sep 22, 2006

Boy, this DVD is just a jumble of old episodes, which are fine. But, it's just not cohesive overall. Feels very disjointed when watching it.

The good thing is my 2 year old loves watching it. She only learned "m" and "u" from this overpriced DVD, but at least she likes watching it.

I must say, I was afraid she wouldn't like "Meet The Letters" after watching this DVD countless times, but she does (I highly recommend Meet The Letters, if you want your young ones to actually learn). Oh, she could call out all the letters after watching "Meet The Letters" for about 2 weeks. Is it because she watched the jumbled "Jungle" for about 3 weeks earlier? Maybe. But, she sure heck didn't call out the letters while watching it (other than "M" and "U" as mentioned).

This is a good DVD that entertains. I would've actually gave it at least 3 stars if it weren't for the price ($[...] B&N), considering that they only had to create those few new scenes with Elmo, Zoey and Telly.
