 Rosetta Stone Hebrew LessonsJan 08, 2010

This program is very difficult to learn without translation. After my husband and I got the program, we realized that we needed more help. Even if you have a good ear (and in my husband's case, can read Biblical Hebrew), you need to know how to pronounce each letter the way Modern Israeli's do. We chose, after much research, "Teach Yourself To Read Hebrew" by Ethelyn Simon and Joseph Anderson, published in 2008. It was under $10 without the CD, and has proved to be enormously helpful. You might find a dictionary helpful, also. Make sure the one you buy has letters large enough to read without a magnifying glass or smeared lettering. We have found the Rosetta Stone and the book make good companions in our learning Hebrew.

We are really frustrated with our Rosetta Stone program. We have had it for a month now and we have had to re-install it twice and spent countless hours on the phone with customer service.
This is by far the most expensive program we own. We saved for months to buy it. I would expect that for the price, we could install it and expect it to run consistently. The kids should be able to access their lessons immediately during their school hours. As a homeschooling mom teaching 6 students, when I have a few minutes to do a lesson, I sit down ready to go. Half the time, it doesn't work and I just walk away frustrated. Today, instead of walking away, I have spent the last hour and a half with technical support trying to get it running again. I am still working on that as I type this.
We have the program installed on two computers - 5 users each, as is allowed. On one computer it works fine and we haven't had any problems. On the other computer, we are constantly having problems. As I said, we have reinstalled it twice. We have had to do all kinds of special things to get a headset (not purchased from RS) running. Actually, RS tech support couldn't figure it out, but my husband did. When we try to log on, we get different error messages and they all send us right back to I am ready to package it up and ship it back if that is possible.
I give two stars because I actually like the program when it is running. I love that with a couple of clicks, I can check student progress. The kids and mom and dad are all learning the language. It is intuitive and easy to use. I even hear the kids speaking it to each other. But, that has dwindled since a few of the kids can't access their Rosetta Stone program half the time.

Very pleased with overall purchase and the product was shipped within a few days of payment and then was recieved within a week.
