German CourseOct 13, 2009

I bought the German home school version for my daughter. The headset is too big for a child, which is very disturbing since she has to hold it the entire time. Also the voice recognition is not good. Many times it will not recognize the spoken words. I am German and the software would not even accept my pronunciation. Also the course will repeat over and over again the words. Bottom line my daughter drifts from bored to annoyed while doing the course.

good productFeb 16, 2011

My family loves it. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the previous review was doing with the product because my wife is fluent in german, studying in the country for years and we still travel there and stay in bavaria often. Our kids were growing up and interested in learning the language so we started them on this program and they use it daily (have for about 6 months now). There are a couple of 'quirks' in the speach recognition but all in all the kids have enjoyed it it and are really picking it up. So for now, we've appreciated the program and have not had any major situations come up with it. My wife loves it, so i'll refer to her extensive knowledge of using the language. As she'll say, NOTHING replaces being fully immersed in the culture and ONLY speaking that language while there, but this is a great program for not being able to do that here in the U.S.
