5Best Math CurriculumOct 17, 2011
By C. Benson "C.B."
I have home schooled my daughter with Singapore Math since first grade. She is now attending a public charter school in eighth grade. Her fellow classmates think she is a math genius. While she is a gifted student she is no math genius. I attribute her skill to recognizing relationships between numbers instantly to the approach Singapore Math uses. This curriculum constantly challenges you to look at math problems, ranging from simple addition/subtraction to algebra, in different ways. It also sets up the student in 4th and 5th grade for algebra in the way the problems are written.
This curriculum has given both of my children an edge over public school curriculums.
