4wild mane D:May 15, 2011

A lot of toys with "hair" have this problem, they look nice in the packaging, but the minute you take them out they've got wild witch hair. There are two ways to remedy this problem.

1) Don't open it and never enjoy your pony to the fullest.
2) Learn how to style pony hair.

I found a method that not only tames pony mane, but creates soft bouncy lasting curls.

You will need: a comb, conditioner, a towel, pens and/or pencils (make sure they're the mechanical kind with a clip on the side.), bobby pins, a spray bottle.

step 1) run pony under water. Get the mane and tail completely wet, then pat down with a towel to get rid of the excess water.
step 2) put conditioner into pony's mane, let sit for at least 30 minutes
step 3) Rinse conditioner out of the pony's mane. Towel off once more and comb out hair
step 4) In a spray bottle, combine 1 part conditioner, 5 parts water and mix thoroughly. spray the pony's mane and tail all over. Don't rinse this out as it is key to getting the hair to stay in place without hairspray or heat
step 5) Placing the hair under the clip of the pen or mechanical pencil, pull it down to the end and roll it around, then secure with the bobby pin. You can do this however tightly or loosely you wish, depending on what type of curl you want. For tail curling you can just wrap it around the leg and secure with a pin, but not more than once unless you want a spiral effect.
step 6) leave pony to dry. BE PATIENT!! Let it become completely dry before you even ATTEMPT to remove anything. Also, be very careful when removing your pen/pencil so your curl is nice and neat.
step 7) enjoy your pony's new do :D

Note: if you don't want to curl the hair, skip the steps for curling and just spray in the diluted conditioner mix and allow to dry. Once it's dry comb it out again for silky smooth mane :D. I skipped curling for fluttershy since I wanted them to look like their tv counterparts.

Beautiful toy. Hasbro did a fine job, I love her mane. Just looking at her makes me want to start sewing. Of course, I recommend it 120%!

BRONY ON!

5Rarity: Pony PerfectionJul 05, 2011

The newest venture from Hasbro, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, has brought on these new toys to follow in the wake of the highly successful series. Do the toys really live up to the spectacular series? Indeed so! Some ponies (people) out there, including myself, are a bit annoyed by the differences in shapes between the TV characters and their physical counterpart. However, after I bought my 2nd pony, I found myself no longer annoyed by the shape of the toy at all. When it comes down to it, they still are the ponies we know and love from the TV show itself. But anyways!

So, what can you expect from a My Little Pony Friendship is Magic figure? Right out the box, you'll find the nylon hair to be quite unruly, but water can fix that. Some ponies do come with a little rubber band tied around their mane, which I keep to use as hair ties later, which I believe is actually part of the intent... the rubber bands often correlate with the hair color of the pony and they don't look half bad as hair ties (though they're a bit of a pain to get 'em on!). Not enough rubber bands? Use some ribbon (it'll look better anyways!).

Now as for the animal friends that come with the ponies... only Applejack's and Fluttershy's seem to make a lick o' sense! Seriously...

But anyways... these ponies make a nice small gift to any young girls.

For the older pony fans out there, they'll make your desk 20% cooler.

4What's that? Rarity is your favorite pony?Nov 19, 2011

Rarity is an awesome pony but her mane was a bit of a pain to style. First I curled her hair around pens and did an impromptu boil perm by dumping a mug of water I boiled in a microwave over her (I'm a college student in a dorm -_-). When she dried I didn't really like the way her hair turned out, the curls were too small and tight. I ended up doing a second boil perm but this time I wrapped her tail around her back leg, the back part of her mane around her neck, and the front part of her mane around a tapioca straw. After dumping boiling water on her again, I left her on the heating vent to dry. This time the curls came out right and the heat from the vent stabilized the curls without the need for hairspray/conditioner. The reason this toy only gets 4 stars is because her mane and tail are dual colored with a dark purple and lighter purple. In the show her mane is a solid color and imo the "highlights" effect that the dual color hair gives doesn't look as good as a solid color.

"What's that? Rarity is your favorite pony? Silly anon, that's not how you spell Pinkie Pie!"
I'm just kidding, I will love and tolerate you no matter who your favorite pony is. BRONY ON!

5The Best we're going to getOct 07, 2011

Despite coming with a Random bird, not her Cat: Opal The toy is the closest to "Show Accurate" of the figurines offered in most retailers.

What irks me is this, Hasbro has the licence for Star Wars, Transformers, and G.I Joe. All three franchises have a MASSIVE character library, with nearly every character represented in figure form in one or multiple "Series" of figures. As it stands now, we only have the "Mane 6", and 5 "Canon" characters in the established figure line (The 5 are Cheerilee, Celestia, Scootaloo(labeled as Apple Bloom/Only in a playset), Sweeitie Belle (Ditto), and an off-model Luna).

My point is this, Hasbro HAS the ability to make figures that actually LOOK like the show, instead they've decided to not only simply plop out whatever they can, but to re-label G3.5/Baby toys as G4 in order to justify keeping them around.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show, and Rarity IS the best pony.....but if you can afford it, look up a few of the "Custom" artists out there, support your local Bronies/Pegasisters if you want stuff that actually LOOKS like the show.
