William Shatner does children's musicSep 13, 2006

"Dangerous Dan"
I am an elementary music teacher (K-4), and I regret purchasing this cd. If you are thinking "Gee, I have these scarves but I don't really know how to use them" this cd is NOT for you. DO NOT IMPULSE BUY THIS CD. This disk is not much more than a corny repertoire of music with vague and generic suggestions for activities to accompany them.
Firstly, each track is a strange combination of cheap cheesy vocals paired with cheap MIDI accompaniment like they were using an old Casio keyboard (a la Wesley Willis). On top of that, each track has extended sections of bad poetry performed slowly and flatly by some guy.
As for the activities, there are one or two creative ideas, such as joining as a chain to create a river, or use the scarves as if they were fish. There is also some choreography included with some patriotic songs. The rest of the activities are simply very vague or simple, and don't really fit with the song given.
I wouldn't have bothered writing a review about this disk if it wern't for the annoying poetry. It is present in EVERY TRACK, and it kills the mood of the song. I would only use the VAST majority of the material on this disk with very young children (K or pre-K) or if I'm really sick or hungover and I just don't want to think about putting together a meaningful lesson.

Good for seniors, too!Jan 29, 2005
By R. Moe I love this CD for use with my senior adult day care program. The exercises can be performed in chairs or marching and dancing around the room. The instructions are simple enough for adults with Alzheimer's disease. It's also helpful that a number of the tunes are quite familiar to them. The variety of tunes, from fast-paced to more relaxing, allows us to keep on exercising.

Musical Scarves ActivitiesMar 22, 2009

"dipseydoodle"
I ordered this CD to use with a Senior Citizens' Exercise Program and look forward to begining a weekly class. I envision that they will be delighted when I start the music and they have a billowy, colorful scarf in their hands. I've seen this done before and actually took part with the ladies. Everyone had smiles on faces and were swaying to the music whether sitting down or standing with their walkers.

By D. Schramm This was purchased for a our local library. Can't comment on the book itself, as I haven't read it. But shipping was fast and book was in the condition promised.
