5Educational, Entertaining and Effective!May 18, 2006
By Kristi Webber
Meet the Numbers is a very clever DVD that taught my 21 month old son to recognize numbers zero through 10 and to count. He watched Meet the Letters for three weeks and learned ALL of the letters of the alphabet. He began to point at letters everywhere we would go but would become frustrated when he saw number characters. I bought Meet the Numbers and within 2 days he knew numbers too! The first section of the video is designed for children to learn number names. The number characters only say their own name while they are doing something that has to do with that number. For example, "zero" blows bubbles that pop before they form. This is such a clever way to represent zero! "One" rides a unicycle, and "two" blows out two birthday candles. The second section of the video is the counting section. Each character counts to get to their number. When my son counts he always imitates the characters voices. The third section gives the kids a chance to test what they have learned. A series of familiar objects appear and the child counts out loud. Then the number character pops up on the screen. The video ends with a counting segment that my son wants to watch over and over again. I showed this video to my preschool and now they show it in all of their classes along with Meet the Letters. I only wish these videos were available when my first two children where toddlers.

5My daughter learned numbers 1-10 after viewing 2 times!!!!!!!Feb 18, 2007
By Jill Thomas
My daughter was 20 months old when I bought this video and I wasn't even thinking about teaching her number character recognition yet. I bought Meet the Letters and she learned ALL of her upper and lowercase letters in less than 2 weeks so of course I bought all of the other videos that Preschool Prep Company makes. It is as if she had 3 years of preschool in one month. I didn't think that I would be able to pry her away from Meet the Letters because it was the only video that she would watch and she would literally cry when I tried to put other shows on. Since this video was made using the familiar format that she loved from Meet the Letters she was so excited to see it and the amazing part was that she learned numbers zero to ten after watching the DVD twice! I wouldn't have believed it but I saw how fast she learned letters so I was curious how fast she would learn numbers and sure enough, we were at a store and they had numbers hanging in the isles and I pointed at each and asked her what they were and she shouted them out with the most amazing enthusiasm. I recommend Meet the Shapes and Meet the Colors too. Meet the Colors is now her favorite of the Preschool Prep Series (I love it too!). I saw the series recommended in both the Child Magazine and Wondertime Magazine holiday gift guides. I also saw them mentioned in American Baby. I am so glad to see that they are getting all of the accolades that they deserve!

4Highly recommendSep 22, 2006

This is exactly what I always look for in an educational program, crisp, clear cut presentation. The animation is perfect, it's simple and bold.

For every number, there's an animation. First in regular font, narrated by an adult saying it nice and clear, then the number turns into a fun animation. The program also goes on to introduce counting, eg: for the number 3, the number first pops up, then 3 golf balls pops up one by one, encouraging you lilttle one to count along.

My only gripe with this DVD (and Meet The Letters) are the high pitched voices they use for the "characters". I can't recall which ones, but some
are pitched so high, they don't sound very clear. Say the number "five" would sound like "hive". At least I can skip it and just let my daughter listens to the adult narrator.

I won't get into the sfx, which are pretty horrible, but at least not distracting. They could've easily paid for better sfx, or just leave them out.

Overall though, I'm very, very happy with this DVD.

5Learning Numbers as Easy as 1, 2, 3!Mar 28, 2008

Meet the Numbers

My youngest son has special needs & mainly uses sign language as a form of communication. My son can learn all sorts of things from these videos that he was unable to learn in preshcool. With just days of "Meet the Numbers" he knew several numbers and with 2 weeks of "Meet the Letters" he was able to name many letters on the cover of Meet the Numbers. This is a big deal because just saying words clear enough for us to understand is hard yet he was able to say these things. I even consider somewhat of a speech therapy while he does the video because he talks along with them. With the simple & repetitive style it is very easy to pick up and they associate the characters with what they are leraning and are able to generatlize it into every day activities. I HIGHLY recomend this item not only for normal children but for those with special needs. We use our's in the car on the way to school. Better then just sitting there!

5The best learning dvd series EVER!Sep 20, 2007
By Arthur A. Mola
I have Meet the Shapes, Letters, and Numbers, and my son has been watching them since he was 18 months. He's 3 now, and I receive compliments all the time about his ability to recognize shapes, colors, numbers, and letters, and he groups them together into sentences, i.e., green rectangle. I have never been so pleased and impressed with children videos as I am with these. This is a MUST HAVE for your child/ren.
