3Great idea but average executionJan 09, 2011
By D. Tang
My 5-year-old son loves this clock. He learned to tell time by reading digital clocks, but did not grasp analog time.

Pro:
1. It works like a real clock. You can only spin the minute hand to advance or reverse time. The hour hand can only move when you spin the minute hand. This is great for learning how time moves.
2. Good size for small hands - about 6 inches in diameter.
3. Has a removable stand in the back, and can be stored on the clock flat so you can store it in a drawer.

Con:
1. The hour hand somehow lost its adjustment, so for example when the minute hand was at 45, the hour hand would already be advanced to the next hour. This is confusing to a child who is learning how to tell time.
2. The minute hand became loose.
3. The removable stand is a little loose.

Final thoughts: I would recommend this clock because it's a great learning toy, but there are a few little problems with it.

5Clock Hands Must be Manually MovedMay 06, 2009
By Christopher
This is a decent learning tool/toy and my daughter has spent a bit of time with the clock.

HOWEVER, the product description is so brief that a very important fact is omitted. The clock hands do not move on their own. The hands must be manually manipulated.

Though the product description says, "Hidden gears maintain correct hour and minute relationships," these are only to keep the hands in sync so that as you MANUALLY move the minute hand, the hour hand will also move with it.

4Plastic Yellow Movable Hands ClockJul 03, 2007
By Christine
Nice clock to use for teaching your child how to read time to the minute. Not wooden as a previous reviewer wrote. It is plastic with a stand to stand up or remove the stand to lay down. It is the smaller one pictures. There is no book with this, just the clock.

4Works well for visual learnersMar 22, 2010
By momof4
I got this because one of my children was having a hard time with learning to tell time on an analog clock. I really like it that the minute and hour hands are color-coded to the corresponding areas on the clock face. The hour hand is red and so are all the big numbers. The minute hand is blue and there is a blue ring around the hour numbers that show the minutes. That's great since one of the problems was remembering which hand went with hours or minutes.

The clock itself is smaller than I expected but it does state correctly in the description it is 5". I guess I let the picture look bigger than it was. :) This clock can take a lot of abuse and still work fine too. My toddler loves playing with this.

We still use this clock a lot. It's very handy to have around. I keep it in the top drawer (literally) of our school supplies so the kids can get to it easily if needed. After this time however, the minute hand doesn't keep track as accurately as does a real clock anymore. It's about 2 minutes or so off, which is frustrating when you're trying to teach accuracy. I probably just need to go get a screwdriver to tighten it in a bit but I haven't done that (yet.)

Overall, I would still buy this again in a heartbeat. It's a great tool that my kids actually enjoy using.

5Perfect teaching toolFeb 11, 2012
By Dr. Mark
The clock is very well thought out with different colored hands and corresponding numbers.

Mine was not 100% perfectly aligned when it arrived (the minute hand was about 5 minutes off, so for example, to get the hour hand to point directly at 12, the minute hand had to be at about 5 minutes past), but this was easy to fix by loosening the hands with a screwdriver, adjusting them correctly, and then retightening. Since then it has been perfect.

It's also very easy to use for teaching time. I quite like how you have to spin the minute hand to get the hour hand to move, so when I ask my son to set it to a certain time, he gets a feeling for how much time has to elapse for the clock to move from one position to another.
