We gave this to my son for his 10th birthday. He built it over a number of days with his oldest brother home from college. They worked together, the instructions were easy to follow and the finished product has been a lot of fun! We like lobbing the ball at/to our lab/beagle! :o)

My 7 yo son who is a lego fanatic was able to follow the instructions, but needed help with the glue. I'm betting an 8 yo could do it solo. The instructions were easy to follow, and once completed, the trebuchet works great. Setting it up and launching is no problem for him to do on his own. I love this. As a science olympiad coach, this would make a great starter kit for a trebuchet event.
