FANTASTIC kid's showNov 05, 2011

I am the mother of two, and also daycare mom to 3. These five children range in age from 1-4, and they ALL love Bubble Guppies! I'm not one for TV, and tend to strictly limit watching time, and the programs that are allowed into our home. I've seen enough of everything out there, and this show is fantastic! It cute and entertaining without being annoying, and I love the way it's structured. Each episode has a theme to teach, and they explore their chosen theme from many different angles, which really gives the older children a comprehensive foundation to build on if they wish to learn more. It isn't necessarily the 'standard' preschool fodder, either (shapes, colors, counting), though that stuff is in there, too. The Bubble Guppies teach about things like architecture/how and what buildings are made from, doctors/hospitals/anatomy, restaurants and what each worker does - the list goes on! Good stuff that kids are curious about, but that parent's don't necessarily think to teach them. Each show runs from beginning to end in the same way, with a formula or routine that repeats in every episode - including an individual's experience, classroom time, role play, catchy songs, jokes, lunch time, and a field trip - all relating to the theme of the show, and without being 'sketchy'. The littler ones just like it because it's brightly colored and the characters are cute and sing, but the older ones have really learned a lot by watching Bubble Guppies, and I highly recommend it to anyone!

My daughter has been watching Bubble Guppies for a couple of months after I found it on Nickelodeon. She is almost 14 months now. My little girl loves the signing. No other show captures her attention the way Bubble Guppies does. I think that as she gets older, she will not only be entertained,but she will also learn from this show. They cover a variety of topics. Older children can learn quite a bit from watching this show. I am thinking about buying the videos (though I wish these episodes were available on DVD).
Pros:
--Routines. This show has a few songs and activities that are repeated in every episode (such as "lunch time"). Every episode is presented as a school day. I think this is a great approach. My daughter looks foward to those songs that are played every time. They only last a few seconds, but they provide a nice structure for the show.
-- Lots of new songs. My daughter loves to "dance" to all the little songs
-- Variety of topics. This show has covered colors, music (rock and roll), anatomy, and tons of other mini-topics.
-- Several main characters. I have to assume that this is so that kids can identify with the character that is more like them.
Cons:
-- Like any other show, this one can be addictive :-) My kid gets "hypnotized" at times, so I have to make sure she doesn't watch too much TV (and plays with her toys instead!).
-- Though the lyrics might change in the new songs for every episode, they sound the same to me (they seem to have a similar tune). This drives me a bit crazy, but my daughter doesn't seem to notice.

My daughter absolutely loves the bubble guppies. She is almost year old and loves the animation and music. Very educational/fun to watch and worth the buy.

my son is always asking for Bubble Guppies. And it's entertaining to him and it's educational, that's what matters! and it's cute.
