Fast-forward through the first five minutes...Dec 31, 2002

"Mom of three sons"
The "meat" of this video is as enjoyable as the previous two musical-themed Baby Einstein videos (Baby Bach, and Baby Mozart), but I am disappointed that Disney, who is now the parent company of Baby Einstein, chose to change the format we moms have come to depend on. When you have a crying baby, it's always great to just pop in a Baby Einstein video, because "the show" usually starts up right after the caterpillar creeps across the screen. Then it's usually 28 or so minutes of non-stop fun, followed by the "Hi, I'm Julie Clark..." advertising portion, and then on to the credits, which show each toy that was used in the video. This was always great because a baby would still be watching right up until the very end even though "the show" was over. Not so with the Baby Beethoven VHS! This video features a full five minutes of the newly redone advertising portion AT THE START OF THE VIDEO! This does not capture a baby's attention right away like all the other Baby Einstein videos. Also, since the ads are at the start of the video, the tape ends rather abruptly, and although the manufacturers of toys used are names, each toy is not shown again. This is a bummer if you want to buy any of the toys and you don't know what they're called. Aside from these couple of complaints, the video itself is good, but I would really recommend to Disney, for future Baby Einstein videos, that they please put the ad section at the end instead of up front.

Smashing!Dec 31, 2002
My 6 month old daughter watched Baby Mozart VHS first and sat through the entire video (about 30 minutes)! A couple of days later I played this DVD which is almost double the length, she again watched the whole thing attentatively. Since the dvd is easier to play, we have been playing it at least a couple of time a day and everytime she quietly watches it, rubbing her little feet in satisfaction. Further, she watches it all by herself on her bouncer seat, or sitting on sofa, giving us plenty of time to ourselves - since she loves us to hold her these days.I tried to play others like the ballet Swan Lake, thinking the beautiful classical music along with ballet would do the same trick. Boy was I wrong! I guess that's why these Baby Einstein titles are no ordinary products, they simply catch baby's attention easily. Get these titles, they are well worth the money and they'll last a long time.

Not DisneyfiedOct 24, 2002
Just wanted to let anyone who was disappointed by Disney's influence over the last release (Baby Newton) know that this newest video is more or less true to form of the original videos.

great dvd!Feb 22, 2005
By Samanthas_mom My 6-month-old loves this dvd. We rotate it with Baby Mozart and the Language Nursery DvDs and she doesn't get seem to get bored with it. She especially loves the puppets. One thing that I would change would be the first 4 minutes or so as it takes a while to really get going. Also, there is a scene with a puzzle that goes on way too long and my daughter starts to get a bit antsy. Otherwise, great dvd.

works like a miracle with fussy babiesSep 16, 2003
This DVD is absolutely wonderful! It is one of the only things that will quiet my fussy baby. It is truly a lifesaver, as it occupies him so that I can get work done at home. He watches the DVD for the entire 30 minutes straight! Not even children's shows on TV will hold his attention like that. Contrary to some of the other reviews, I find the video very entertaining and even comical in parts ! The images are perfect for babies, and the music is well orchestrated for little ones, yet entertaining enough for adult ears. If you buy the DVD version, you don't have to listen to any of the advertisements that the reviewers complained about after buying the VHS version. I would definitely recommend this DVD for anyone who has a baby. We will be buying more Baby Einstein products in the future.
